Thanking Esther

I have been thing about Esther's opera for a solid week and I finally thought I should take a moment to say thank you. The whole project seemed such an immense undertaking, but what Esther accomplished surpassed anything I had imagined. The music was evocative and beautiful. I felt privileged to be a part of the process. I really hope that this piece will find another venue down the road, so that more people can share a part of Rose.

  1. I agree completely. I forgot how much I liked Gertrude Stein, after having read "Three Lives" a while ago, and the whole opera was fantastic. One of my favorite parts of the opera was the long piano solo at the end.
Short fact: After Gertrude Stein made the quote "rose is a rose is a rose is a rose" famous, Hemingway sent her a telegraph when they were in a fight with the words "a bitch is a bitch is a bitch is a bitch." Just a small, humorous fact about their relationship, which if anyone is interested in, is also written about in Hemingway's "A Moveable Feast." There's a rare book store in Manhattan called Bauman's Rare Books, and they sell a first edition, signed by Stein, copy of "The World is Round."

  3. Hahahahah! Hemingway...

Thank you, guys, so much. I'm surprised at how supportive you all are and I'm really thankful. You're never sure if your own creative work is really good or not so it's nice to get affirmation. Thanks again very much!
